Holmes County Habitat for Humanity Holds Groundbreaking for Next Home

While Habitat for Humanity normally builds its homes with a combination of professional contractors and experienced and novice volunteers, Habitat has contracted with Ivan Yoder Builders to have this home built. ?By hiring Ivan Yoder Builders, we have accomplished two things that were very important to us as a board,? stated Deb Berner, President of Holmes County Habitat for Humanity. ?We will get another partner family in to their home more quickly and, we will be supporting an excellent local contractor who has also supported our Habitat affiliate for years.?

After completing its most recent home at the end of October, Holmes County Habitat for Humanity still has four partner families on its approved list for a home. The Affiliate is currently not planning on taking new applications from families until they have the Simpson home completed and another home started.

?Our past construction supervisor retired last year and we are actively looking for someone to fill this position,? added Berner. ?A board member stepped in to this role on a temporary basis this past summer and now we are in the midst of the search process to find the right person to help us carry on our mission of providing simple, decent, affordable housing for people in Holmes County. At the end of the day, this is what matters.?
